Jessica Marciano (Churchville, NY/Churchville Chili) and Kaiden McCaskill (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) have been named the Pioneer Athletes of the Week for the week of March 2nd, 2026.

Marciano and the Pioneers traveled to face Plattsburgh State in the squad's second game of the season, looking to bounce back from a loss in their home opener. The senior attacker led the orange and blue, scoring three of the team's goals in a 10-4 victory over the Cardinals, and assisting on one other. She did so on just four shot attempts, all of which were on target. In addition to being just her second career hat trick, she also added three ground balls and draw controls, being one of just three Pioneers with more than two ground balls, and one of two with multiple draw controls.

Marciano and the women's lacrosse team will be back in action this weekend, heading to Buffalo State this Saturday for a 1:00 PM matinee against the Bengals. 

McCaskill came up clutch at the Empire 8 Championships this past weekend, securing gold in the Men's High Jump following a top leap of 1.96m. He would clear the 1,96m mark on his second attempt at the height, sealing the deal and granting Empire 8 Champion status to the local product out of Rome.
