George Penree was hired by Utica College in the winter of 2007 and serves as the Assistant Head Football Coach/Offensive Line and Recruiting Coordinator for the Utica College football program.

Over the past five seasons Penree has been an integral part of Coach Fitzpatrick’s balanced no-huddle offense that has elevated the Pioneers to become one of the top offenses in the Empire 8 conference and propelled the Pioneers to shatter school records in various offensive categories year after year.

The 2012 season proved to be the Pioneer offense’s most prolific to date as they led the Empire 8 conference in several offensive categories, including: Points per Game (34.2), Yards per Game (465.0), Passing Yards per Game (340.2), Completion Percentage (66.2%), First Downs per Game (24.3), and 3rd Down Conversion Percentage (50%).  All of those categories broke school records as well, in addition to breaking school records for Pass Completions (274), Passing TDs (33), Pass Efficiency Rating (156.2), and Total Offense per Play (6.3 yds/play).

Penree mentored 2012 Empire 8 First Team All Conference Offensive Tackle, Tom Dyer, as well as Empire 8 Second Team All Conference Offensive Tackle, Zach Hunnewell.  During Penree’s five seasons he has coached six members of the Empire 8 All Conference Team.

Penree joins the UC coaching staff after spending the 2007 season as the special team's coordinator and defensive backs coach at Waldorf College in Forest City, Iowa.  Waldorf, a member of the Midwest Collegiate Conference in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), posted a 2-9 record in 2007.  He also spent four years (2004-2007) as an assistant coach at Heidelberg College in Tiffin, Ohio.  During his tenure at Heidelberg he was able to earn a master's degree in education.

Penree graduated from St. John Fisher College in 2003, where he earned a bachelor's degree in communications/journalism.  He was also a member of the offensive line for four seasons with the Cardinal's football program.  Immediately after earning his undergraduate degree he spent one year as a volunteer assistant coach with the Fisher football team, helping the Cardinals to a ECAC Northwest Championship.

The 1999 graduate of Notre Dame High School is a local product and was born, raised, and currently resides in Utica, NY with his wife Sherry.
