Lazarus Morgan

Lazarus Morgan was hired in the spring of 2009 to serve as a safeties coach for the Utica College football program. 

Morgan joined the UC staff after starting four years at defensive back for the Pioneers football team.  In 29 total games he recorded 86 tackles and picked off six passes, including a school-record 88 yard interception return for a touchdown.  In his sophomore season he returned nine kickoffs for a total of 166 yards.  After picking off four passing and collecting a career-high 35 tackles in his junior season he was named to the Empire 8 All-Conference honorable mention team. 
 
In the five years Morgan has coached the secondary the Utica College defensive has allowed an average of 181.26 yards per game, while having five players being named to the Empire 8 all-conference team. Most recently in the 2013 season the Pioneers defense finished second in the conference giving up 193.7 yards a game.
 
Lazarus graduated from Utica College in 2009 with a degree in communications. 

Originally from Bronx, NY, he graduated from Christopher Columbus High School in 2004 where he captained the varsity football team in his senior season. In the spring of 2014 he will be graduating with a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Utica College.

He is also a residence counselor for Upstate Cerebral Palsy and currently resides in Utica, NY.
