Utica University Head Gymnastics Coach Danielle Cerminaro announced the hiring of Jenna Zakala as the program's assistant coach in Summer 2023. Zakala will assist Cerminaro with all facets of the program including scouting, recruiting, practice and meet preparation, as well as day-to-day operations in the office.
Zakala is a 2020 Graduate of Southern Connecticut State University where she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration and a Concentration in Management. During her three-year tenure she was a Division II student-athlete and member of the Women’s Gymnastics team where she competed in Floor Exercise, Vault, and Balance Beam.
As a three-year coach of Valley Gymnastics, Zakala has been mentoring athletes of all ages as she enters her first year at the collegiate level in 2023.
In her career, Zakala is a two-time Women’s Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA) Scholar All-American, a three-time SCCU Scholar-Athlete, a 2020 Mari-Rae Sopper Award Recipient, a SCSU Student Athletic Advisory Committee Member and a 2018 SCSU Student Athletic Advisory Committee- Leadership Academy Graduate
