Utica, NY (1-29-12) – Senior captain Tim Coffman, of the nationally-ranked Utica College men's hockey team, was named the College’s Male Athlete of the Week Monday for the week ending Jan. 29, 2012.
Coffman became the College’s all-time scoring leader on Saturday night as he recorded his 130th career point on the eventual game-winning goal to lead UC over Hobart College, 5-2, in ECAC Men’s West action. On Friday, he tied the school record after setting up linemate Evan Chlanda on the go-ahead score as Utica went on to defeat the Statesmen 5-2.
He is currently third on the squad with 24 points on eight scores and a team-best 16 assists. His 16 helpers rank 12th nationally and his 24 total points are good enough for 15th in all of Division III.
Coffman currently has 55 goals to along with 75 assists in 92 career games played. He now needs four goals to become the College's all-time leader in goals scored. The current record of 58 goals is held by All-American Jimmy Sokol '05.
The Pioneers, who have won three in a row, moved into third place in the ECAC Men’s West Conference with seven points after sweeping the weekend series against the Statesmen.
UC is now 3-3-1 in the conference and 14-5-1 overall as they prepare for a weekend series against Manhattanvile College beginning Friday (7 p.m.) at the Aud.
