Utica, NY (2-6-12) – Sophomore Megan Myers, of the Utica College women’s hockey team, earned the College’s Female Athlete of the Week award for the week ending Feb. 5. Myers netted three of the Pioneers' five goals, including both game-winners, in the weekend sweep of Chatham University.
On Saturday, the Las Vegas native scored the contest’s first two goals, in a span of 2:19, to help propel UC to a convincing 4-0 victory over the host Cougars. On Sunday, she scored the game’s lone goal, and eventual game-winner, 1:19 into the third period to lead Utica in two big conference wins.
The standout forward moved up to eighth place in the national rankings with 29 points on 12 scores and 19 assists. She also ranks ninth in the country with 19 assists. She has five points on three goals and two assists in her last three games.
The Pioneers won their first game since Dec. 10, 2011 as they improved to 8-10-2 on the season, while moving their ECAC West record to 5-7-2. UC returns to the ice Tuesday for a non-conference match against Hamilton College (7 p.m.) across town in Clinton, NY.
