Utica, NY (3-26-12) – Junior Meghan Matan, of the Utica College softball team, was named the College’s Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending Mar. 25, 2012.

Matan posted a .571 average at the plate as she went 8-for-14 leading UC to a 4-0 record last week.

She went 3-for-7 with a run scored against SUNYIT on Wednesday, Mar. 21 and followed up with a 5-for-7 afternoon on Saturday, Mar. 24 against Southern Vermont College.

In game two against SVC, the Latham, NY native went 4-for-4 with four RBI and two runs scored as she roped a double and a triple.

On the season, she is currently leading the squad with a .473 batting average, 26 hits, 11 runs scored and eight stolen bases in her freshman campaign.
