Utica, NY (4/2/12)- Senior Katlyn Banker of the Utica College women’s lacrosse team was named the College’s Female Athlete of the Week, Monday.
Banker, a native of Henrietta, NY, played a key role in both Pioneer wins this past week. On Wednesday, she scored five goals and added two assists as UC defeated Oswego State 12-10. On Saturday, Banker followed that up with a three-point performance as Utica downed Empire 8 opponent, Hartwick, 10-6.
On the year, Banker has a team-high 28 points on 20 goals and eight assists. She is averaging over 4.6 points per game and also leads the team with 13 caused turnovers.
Over the course of her career, Banker has totaled 77 goals and 40 assists, for 117 points, which ranks first among active players. She needs just six points to move into seventh place on the College’s all-time career points list. She also is fifth all-time in assists, just one behind Laura Keating ’09 and three behind Casey Pelletier ’08, who is currently second on the list.
The Pioneers are currently 4-2 overall and 1-0 in the Empire 8 Conference. They have outscored opponents 69-35 through six games. UC returns to action Tuesday as it travels to Buffalo, NY to take on Medaille College. The non-conference match up is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
