Utica, NY (4/16/12)- Junior Hunter Padgett, of the men’s track and field team, was named Male Athlete of the Week Monday.
The Clinton, NY native competed in the 3000-meter steeplechase this past weekend at the Coach P. Invitational at Moravian College. He finished with a final time of 9:45.22 and placed second, just over a half a second short of first place (9:45.75).
Padgett shaved an incredible 20 seconds off of his final time from last week, going from 10:04.11 to 9:45.22. In order to qualify for ECAC’s Padgett must shave at least five more seconds off of his time, as the qualifying time is 9:40.00.
Padgett and the Pioneers return to the track Saturday, when they travel to Ithaca College for the Empire 8 Outdoor Championships.
