Utica University Athletics

Utica, NY (4-23-12) – Freshman Lauren DeLude, of the Utica College women’s track and field team, was named the College’s Female Athlete of the Week Monday. 

DeLude led UC to a second place finish Saturday at the E8 Championships as she was honored with E8 Female Athlete of the Meet.  The All-Conference selection has earned E8 Athlete of the Week honors five times throughout frst year campaign.

The local standout won all three of her individual events and also helped Utica to two second place finishes in the 4x400 meter and the 4x100 meter relays. After winning the qualifier with a time of 13.03 in the women's 100 meter dash, DeLude came right back and won the finals with a time of 12.83.  She also added a first place finish in the women's 200 meter dash with a time of 26.12 and placed first in the women's long jump with a leap of 5.03 meters.

The Pioneers return to the track next weekend when they travel to the Penn Relays, which is widely known as one of the largest track meets in the country.
