Utica, NY (9/24/12)- Freshman Rose Zaloom of the Utica College women’s tennis team was named the College’s Female Athlete of the Week, Monday.
Zaloom helped the Pioneers snap as 6-year, 56-game losing streak Saturday, as they downed Cazenovia 8-1. The Utica native defeated Caz's Kierstyn Decory 7-5, 6-0 in second singles. She added another point for UC as she helped win first doubles, 8-2.
Zaloom also scored a point against Elmira on Sept. 15 as she and teammate Jennifer Persio won their doubles match 8-5.
The Pioneers are currently 1-4 on the season and return to action Saturday as they travel to Alfred University for a conference match against the Saxons. The contest is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
