Utica University Athletics

Utica, N.Y (11/1/10) – Freshman Katie Day of the Utica College women’s cross country team was named the College’s Female Athlete of the Week for the second time this season Monday.  Day placed fifth overall, with a time of 18:43 in the 5k, and was the top freshman finisher at the 2010 Empire 8 Conference Championships at Saratoga Springs State Park Sunday. 

Day guided the women’s squad to a third place tie with Nazareth - marking the best team finish in program-history.  For her efforts she garnered All-Conference First Team status and was named the Rookie of the Meet. 

Day, who holds the school-record in the 5k, has been the Pioneers top finisher in all but one meet this year.
