Utica, NY (10/8/12)- Freshman Ashton Villeneuve of the Utica College women’s cross-country team was named the College’s Female Athlete of the Week, Monday.
The Holland Patent native finished first on the team and sixth overall (19:01.8) at the Hamilton College Invitational Saturday. Villeneuve helped the Pioneers to a third place finish, in front of Nazareth, Ithaca, and Oswego. It was the first time in program history that Utica placed higher than Ithaca.
The Pioneers have one first place and one third place finish out of four meets this season. They return to action on Oct. 20 for the New York State Collegiate Track Conference Championships at Centre Park in Fairport, NY. The race is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
