Utica, NY – Ka’Sean Watlington of the Utica College men’s track and field team has been named the Utica College Male Athlete of the Week for his performance at the Empire 8 Outdoor Championships.
Watlington competed in three different events at the E8 Championships, earning a top two finish in all three competitions. The sophomore set a new school record in the triple jump, leaping a distance of 14.69 meters to place first and take home First Team All-Conference honors in the event. This mark currently has Ka’Sean sitting in 12th on the Outdoor National Qualifying List for the triple jump.
He also came away with Second Team All-Conference in the long jump event, placing second at the E8 Championships. Watlington’s long jump of 6.99 meters set another school record at the meet. The Pioneers came in third place at the Empire 8 Championship meet with a total of 159 team points.
UC will travel to SUNY Geneseo on Thursday to compete at the Geneseo Beautiful Valley Invite before competing at the Harrison Dillard Twilight Invitational, hosted by Baldwin Wallace University, on Friday.
