Utica, NY (10/22/12)- Sophomore Hannah Mackey of the Utica College field hockey team was named the College’s Female Athlete of the Week, Monday.
Mackey, a native of Locke, NY scored two goals, both game-winners as the Pioneers went 2-0 last week. On Wednesday, she opened the scoring by netting her tenth goal of the season in UC’s 3-0 win over Ithaca. She followed that up on Saturday as she scored with less than a minute remaining to lift Utica passed Houghton College, 3-2.
On the season, Mackey has 11 goals and nine assists. She is second on the team in goals and ranks third in the conference in points (31) and assists. She also leads the E8 with five game-winning goals.
The Pioneers are 11-4 overall and 4-3 in the Empire 8. They return to action Wednesday as they wrap up non-conference play at Oneonta State. Their final game will be on Saturday as they host Hartwick College in a crucial Empire 8 match up. Wednesday’s game is scheduled for 4 p.m. while Saturday’s game will begin at 10:30 a.m.
