Utica, NY (11-26-12) – Junior Chris Jeffers, of the Utica College men’s basketball team, was named the College’s Male Athlete of the Week Monday for his performance on the court this past week. Jeffers posted close to a double-double over the course of three games averaging 12.3 points, 9.0 rebounds and 3.0 steals per game while shooting 59.1% from the floor.
A native of Albany, NY, he netted 16 points, grabbed ten rebounds, dished out four assists and tallied four steals in the Pioneers' win over SUNYIT on Tuesday. He chipped in with 13 points, seven rebounds and two steals in the Pioneers' loss to NYU on Saturday at the Hamilton College Thanksgiving Tournament and then closed out the week with eight points, ten rebounds and three steals in UC's loss to Union College on Sunday.
The Pioneers are 1-3 overall on the early season as they beat SUNYIT and lost Cortland, New York University and Union. UC returns to the court Wednesday Nov. 28 as it heads to Canton, NY to face SUNY Canton for a 6 p.m. tip-off.
