Utica, NY (3/11/13) – Sophomore midfielder Megan Kane of the Utica College women’s lacrosse team was named the College’s Female Athlete of the Week for her performance on the field this past week.
Kane helped lift the Pioneers to a 2-0 week and their first-ever 3-0 start as she tallied three goals, four groundballs, two caused turnovers, and three draw controls in their 11-7 victory Wednesday over Skidmore. She bounced back on Saturday with a career-best five goals to along with five groundballs and five draw controls in the 11-7 win over Potsdam.
Her five goal effort is a season-high so far for a single-game. She also leads the team in shots (11) and shots on goal (7) in a single-game. Kane is third on the team with ten points, first in draw controls (11) and second in groundballs (11).
The Pioneers return to action on Wednesday, Mar. 13 as they welcome The Sage Colleges to Gaetano Stadium. Game time is set for 4 p.m.
