Senior Katie Day of the Utica College cross country team was named the College’s Female Athlete of the Week on Monday.

Day led the Pioneers to a sixth place team finish at the 2013 NYSCTC cross country meet at nearby Hamilton College on Saturday. The two time all-Empire 8 selection and 2010 conference rookie of the year was the first Utica runner to cross the finish line at the end of the six kilometer course, finishing in eleventh place with a time of 23:25.1. Her time was just a half second ahead of teammate Ashton Villeneuve, who finished twelfth out of the 129 runner, eleven team field.

The Pioneers head to New York’s Capital District this weekend for the 2013 Empire 8 Championships in Saratoga Springs. The race will take place at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center.
