Utica, NY (January 20, 2014) - Senior Anastasia Bowden, of the Utica College women’s track and field team, was named the College’s Female Athlete of the Week for her impressive performance Saturday at the St. Lawrence Invitational.
Bowden, among collegiate runners, won the 200-meter dash clocking an ECAC qualifying time of 26.51 and gathering 10 points for the team. Her fastest 200-meter time came in last year’s NYSCTC Championships where she ran an impressive 26.48 to register a sixth place finish.
Bowden teamed up with senior Samantha Prendergast, sophomore Sarah Wiatr, and freshman Brenna Stewart for eight points and a third place finish in the 4x400 meter relay. The relay team clocked a 4:14.65, less than a half a second behind the second place finisher.
The Pioneers return to action next Saturday, Jan. 25th for Hamilton Invitational at the Scott Field House in Clinton, NY. The events are set to start at 11 a.m.
