Utica, NY (January 27, 2014) – Sophomore Frank Volino, of the Utica College men’s track and field team, was named the College’s Male Athlete of the Week for his impressive performance Saturday at the Hamilton Invitational.

Volino came in first in the finals of the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.39 seconds, a personal best. It was also the best time in the Empire 8 Conference so far this indoor season. He placed second in the preliminary round with a recorded time of 8.63. This was his first victory since winning in the 110 meter hurdles at the Hamilton Outdoor Invitational on March 30, 2013.

The Pioneers return to action next Saturday for the Empire 8 Indoor Championships at Ithaca College. The events are set to start at 10:30 a.m.
