UTICA, NY (3/31/14) – Senior All-American Evelyn Kurzac, of the Utica College water polo team, was named the College’s Female Athlete of the Week Monday for her outstanding performance in the CWPA Division III regional this past weekend.
In the eight regional contests over the weekend, Kurzac led the Pioneers with 30 points (23 goals, seven assists). In addition to scoring in every game, she scored multiple goals in six of the eight games. Kurzac also tallied two six-goal performances in each of the nightcap games on Friday and Saturday. Saturday’s effort led UC past Monmouth College for the Pioneers’ second victory of the weekend. On the season, Kurzac leads the Pioneers in scoring with 46 goals.
The Pioneers went 2-6 over the weekend and hold a 4-10 overall record. UC wraps up its season at the CWPA Division III Championships on April 12 at Macalester College in St. Paul, MN.
