Utica, NY (4/28/14) – Sarah Wiatr of the Utica College women’s track and field team has been named the College’s Female Athlete of the Week Monday for her performance at the Golden Eagle Invitational at SUNY Brockport on Saturday.
 
Wiatr came in first in all three of her events Saturday. She was a member of the 4x400 winning team with a time of 4:08.78 and was on the winning 4x100 relay team with a time of 49.27. Her most impressive victory, however, came in the triple jump where she easily won the event with a jump of 11.72 meters. The jump also broke her previous school record of 11.49 and was the tenth best jump in the entire nation for DIII track and field at this point.
 
Wiatr has six first-place finishes on this outdoor season and came in second in the triple jump in last weekend’s Empire 8 Conference Championship at St. John Fisher.

The Pioneers are travelling to St. John Fisher Friday and Saturday next week for the NYSCTC Championships. The meet is scheduled to start Friday at 2 p.m. and Saturday at 10 a.m.
