Utica, NY (4/28/14) – Sophomore Adam Pexton of the Utica College baseball team has been named the College’s Male Athlete of the Week Monday for his performance in three games this past week.
Pexton had seven hits in 11 at-bats in the Pioneers two games against SUNY Canton on Saturday and in one game against Stevens on Sunday. In a 17-3 win over SUNY Canton in game one, Pexton went 4-for-5 with three runs scored and drove in three runs as well. He also stole two bases in the game. In game two, Pexton went 2-for-4, scored once, and registered one RBI as the Pioneers lost 11-7. On the following day against Stevens, he went 1-for-2 with an RBI and drew a walk in a 3-2 loss.
After the breakout weekend, Pexton is now batting .333 and is tied for second in batting average. He is currently riding an eight-game hitting streak that started over two weeks ago against Ithaca (4/13/14).
The Pioneers are back in action today (Monday) against Stevens for an Empire 8 double-header starting at noon.
