Utica, NY (11/17/14) – Senior running back Jesse Baldassare of the Utica College football team was named the College’s Male Athlete of the Week for his performance against Hartwick.
This marks the second time this season Baldassare has earned the award after he rushed for 197 yards and four touchdowns against Hartwick. The 197-yard effort put Baldassare into the College’s record books as he broke the school-record with 1,774 career rushing yards. Baldassare also sits second in program history with 19 rushing touchdowns, only three shy of 2014 graduate Jake Larson’s record. This season, Baldassare, has ten touchdowns and 693 rushing yards ranking him third and fifth in the Empire 8, respectively.
The Pioneers are 7-3 overall and 5-3 in the Empire 8, both of which are program bests. UC also earned its first ever Bowl bid, as the Pioneers will take on Morrisville State in the ECAC North Central Bowl. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday at Morrisville.
