Utica, NY (12/8/14) – Corey Zlatniski of the Utica College men’s track and field team was named the College’s Male Athlete of the Week for his performance at the Brockport Early Season Invitational this past weekend.
 
UC placed third out of ten teams at the Brockport Early Season Invitational hosted by SUNY Brockport on Saturday.  The Pioneers totaled 84 team points to finish in the top three of the team scoring.
 
At the Invitational, Zlatniski earned 18 team points and helped the Pioneers place third. He broke the school record of 4:29.45 for the mile run by posting a time of 4:29:01. He also competed in the men’s 1000 meter and placed second with a time of 2:39.38. Zlatniski currently holds the program record for the 1000 meter with a time of 2:34.49.
 
The Pioneers will have a month off before returning to action. Utica will travel to Rochester Institute of Technology on January 17th for the RIT Invitational. The events will start at 10 a.m.
