UTICA, NY – Utica College men's basketball senior point guard
Aaron Nevins (Buffalo, NY/Canisius) was named the Empire 8 Conference Player of the Week and the College's Male Athlete of the Week after registering his 1,000
th career point over the weekend. Nevins became the 14
th player in program-history to join the 1,000 point club after his 15 point effort against Ithaca College on Saturday. Nevins now has 1,007 career points in 85 games played and he needs six more points to move into 13
th place all-time at UC.
Nevins averaged 7.8 points, 5.3 assists and 3.0 rebounds per game as the Pioneers went 2-2 last week. He shot 41.2% from the floor and posted a 2.3 assist/turnover ratio. He totaled 15 points and six assists against Ithaca and he added seven assists, six rebounds and four points in the Pioneers win over Old Westbury on Tuesday.
Nevins currently ranks second in the Empire 8 with an average of 4.5 assists per game this season. He is averaging 9.7 points per game and he has 11 steals.
Nevins also ranks fourth all-time at UC with 336 career assists and he needs just three more to move into third place all-time in the College's record book.
The Pioneers return to action on Tuesday afternoon when they travel to Stevens Institute of Technology to take on the Ducks in Empire 8 Conference play at 8 p.m.
