UTICA, NY- Sophomore thrower Sam Kaczmarek was named Utica College’s Male Athlete of the Week after his personal best performance Friday at the Coach P Open at Moravian College.

Kaczmarek took first place in the shot put after throwing a personal best 15.08 meters (outdoor), qualifying him for ECAC post-season competition. He ranks 42^nd nationally in the shot put after his performance this past week.

Kaczmarek also holds a the team’s best discus mark this season after recording a toss of 40.40 meters at the University of Rochester Alumni Invitational on April 2^nd. This past indoor season he set a new school-record with a toss of 16.13 meters in the shot put. 

The Pioneers return to action on Tuesday when they travel to nearby Clinton, NY to participate in the Hamilton College Quad Meet at Pritchard Track (4 p.m.)
