Senior catcher Thomas Dinnen of the Utica College baseball team was named Utica College’s Male Athlete of the Week, Monday.
Dinnen crouched behind the plate in all five of UC’s games last week as he went 9-for-19 for an average of .474. He also drove in seven runs and scored four times as the Pioneers were 2-2-1 in that span.
Wednesday against Keuka College, Dinnen went 6-for-7 with five RBIs and two runs scored in both games of the doubleheader as UC topped the Wolfpack, 8-5 and 10-8.
Dinnen also made personal history this week as he recorded his 100th career hit in a 16-14 loss to Houghton.  He now has 107 hits all-time.
Dinnen has started all 31 of Utica’s games so far this season. He has a batting average of .319, with 36 hits, 24 RBIs, 12 walks and 14 runs scored in 113 at bats. Dinnen also has a fielding percentage of .991 to go along with his stellar offensive numbers.
The Pioneers are 19-13-1 on the season so far. UC wraps up the regular season on the road at Hamilton College on Wednesday in the 28th annual Jackie Robinson Game. Game time is set for 4:15 p.m.
