UTICA, NY – Junior guard Agim Hamiti of the Utica College men’s basketball team was named the College’s Male Athlete of the Week on Monday for his efforts over the course of three games last week.
Hamiti averaged 20.3 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 2.0 assists last week for the Pioneers. He shot 75 percent from the free-throw line and shot 48 percent behind the arc. In the Pioneers' 78-65 loss to Hartwick, Hamiti had 11 points and six rebounds. After the loss to Hartwick, he helped lead the Pioneers to victory against Elmira with 21 points, five rebounds, and four assists. Hamiti wrapped up the week with a career-high 29 points in a loss against Houghton. He also added nine rebounds and shot 80 percent from the free throw line.
Hamiti recently joined the Pioneers for the second half of the season and over the course of six games he is averaging 13.5 points, 5.8 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game. His 13.5 points per game rank second on the team to leading scorer Robert Tutein (17.2).
The Pioneers return to the hardwood on Tuesday night when they travel to St. John Fisher to take on the Cardinals in Empire 8 action at 6 p.m.
