UTICA, NY – Freshman forward Megan Myers (Las Vegas, NV/ LA Selects) of the Utica College women’s hockey team was named the College’s Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending Feb. 20th. Although the Pioneers were 0-3 this past week, Myers led the Pioneers in scoring with a total of six points, including five goals.
In the 6-5 loss to the reigning NCAA Champions, Amherst College, Myers led the Pioneers in scoring by totaling a game-high four points, which included her third hat-trick of the season.
She also led the Pioneers against fourth-ranked SUNY Plattsburgh this past weekend. Myers was the only Pioneer to score a goal against the Cardinals in the two-game set after netting two goals to give her a team-high 19 this season. She also closed out the regular season tied with line mate Darcy Hier for first on the team with 31 points (19 goals, 12 assists). Among rookies, Myers is fifth in the nation averaging 1.24 points per game.
The Pioneers, who are making their school-record tenth straight conference tournament appearance, are now 12-13 overall and 8-10 in the ECAC Women’s West Conference. UC returns to action Saturday as it travels to third seeded Elmira College to face the Soaring Eagles in the quarterfinals of the ECAC Women’s Conference Tournament.
