UTICA, NY – Senior guard James Patterson of the Utica College men's basketball team was named College’s Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending Feb. 20.
Patterson averaged 24.3 points, 4.3 assists, 3.3 rebounds and 3.3 steals per game as the Pioneers went 2-1 this past week. He scored a game-high 27 points, including the game-winning 3-pointer as time expired, as the Pioneers’ defeated RIT, 76-75, in his final game on the hardwood at the Clark Athletic Center Friday night.
He added 31 points as the Pioneers defeated Elmira College on Tuesday night.
Patterson shot 61.1 percent from the floor (22-of-36) over the course of three games and he also moved into fifth place on the College's all-time scoring list with 1,227 career points.
On the season Patterson ranks fourth in the conference with an average of 18.6 points and 4.5 rebounds per game. He also shot 49 percent from the floor.
The Pioneers closed out their 2010-11 season with a record of 13-11 and 7-9 in the Empire 8 Conference.
