Utica University Athletics

UTICA, NY- Senior Cassie Smith of the Utica College softball team was named the College’s Female Athlete of the Week on Monday.
 
Smith was 4-for-6 with one home run and six RBIs in a 1-1 week.  She was 1-for-2 with one RBI and one run scored in Utica’s 5-4 loss to RPI in the first game of the double-header on Wednesday.  She followed that up by going 3-for-4, including one homer, and racked up five RBIs and three runs scored it UC’s 12-9 victory in game two. 
 
On the season, she is tied for second on the team with a .339 batting average.
She is in the midst of a seven game hitting streak in which she has batted .600 (15-for-25).
 
The Pioneers (22-14, 9-3) wrap up the regular season Tuesday as they travel to Nazareth College.  Game one of the double-header is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
