Utica University Athletics

Junior Ivan Iton, of the Utica College men’s basketball team, was selected Monday as Utica College’s Male Athlete of the Week following his performance against SUNY Poly and Montclair State. 
 
Iton scored 11 points and had a added team-high nine rebounds in the Pioneers’ 63-58 home loss to SUNY Poly on Nov. 22. He also recorded his sixth career double-double (22 points, 11 rebounds) in the team’s 67-58 home loss against Montclair State last Sunday.

Iton has a team-high 86 points this season. The junior is also ranks eighth in the Empire 8 in scoring (Avg/G 17.2) and fifth in rebounding (Avg/G 8.4). 
 
Utica is still winless this season with a 0-5 overall record. The Pioneers look to get their first win this Friday as they play another home game against Misericordia University. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
