UTICA, NY – Junior hurdler Joe Pruckno (Rome, NY/ Rome Free Academy) of the Utica College men’s track and field team was named the College’s Male Athlete of the week for the week ending March 6th, making his second straight appearance.
Pruckno became the college’s first-ever automatic NCAA qualifier in the 55-meter hurdles this past weekend He is now guaranteed a spot at the NCAA Division III National Championships next weekend in Columbus, Ohio.
Pruckno posted a second place time of 7.52 in the men’s 55-meter hurdle finals at the ECAC Championships hosted by New York University at the Armory Track in New York City Saturday afternoon. The men’s team placed 18th overall out of 53 teams.
So far this season, Pruckno has finished first three times, including a meet record in the 55-meter hurdles at the Empire 8 Championships at RIT, to go along with three second-place finishes.
