Senior jumper Jade Jenkins of the Utica College women’s track and field team was named the College’s Female Athlete of the Week for her performance at the Empire 8 Championships this weekend.
            Jenkins earned the conference crown in the triple jump as she broke 11.00 meters for the first time in her career. Her previous best was 10.77 meters set at the Utica College Pioneer Invitational on January 28 where she placed second.
            The victory gives Jenkins her first career Empire 8 Conference title. Before that, she came in second place three times in the finals of the triple jump throughout her regular season career. She also competed in the long jump at the Empire 8 Championship where she recorded her best mark of 4.47 meters in 2017.
            The team returns to action Saturday at 10:30 p.m. in the Todd & Jen Hutton Sports & Recreation Center.
