Utica, N.Y. (3/14/2011) – Junior midfielder Katlyn Banker of the Utica College women’s lacrosse team has been named the College’s Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending March 13, 2011. Banker posted a game-high seven points on three goals and four assists in the Pioneers’ 12-6 win over Potsdam State on Saturday. She also scooped up four ground balls, snagged three draw controls and caused two turnovers as the Pioneers improved their record to 1-1 overall.

Over the course of two games this season Banker leads the team with five goals and she is tied for the team lead with nine total points. She chipped in with two goals in the Pioneers’ 10-4 season-opening loss to nationally-ranked Union College on March 5th.

In 29 career games Banker has 57 points (39 goals, 18 assists). She also has 50 career draw controls, 46 ground balls and 26 caused turnovers.

The Pioneers return to the field on March 23rd when they travel to non conference opponent Geneseo to take on the Knights at 4 p.m.
