UTICA, NY – Senior forward Roman Ammirato of the nationally-ranked No. 7/9 Utica College men’s hockey team was named the Utica College Male Athlete of the Week on Monday.

Ammirato posted a team-best four points for the Pioneers over the weekend. He had two goals and one assist in a 5-2 victory over UCHC foe Nazareth College on Friday night at home. He then netted a goal against Oswego State in a 3-3 tie in overtime on Saturday afternoon.

Ammirato currently has 15 goals and 10 assists on the year for a total of 25 points. His average of 1.47 points per game ranks 12th nationally. He also ranks third in the country in goals per game (0.88) and first in power play goals per game (0.47).

The Pioneers return to action Friday January 26 as they take on the visiting Lions of Bryn Athyn College in a non-conference matchup at 7 p.m. Utica then hits the road Saturday for United Collegiate Hockey Conference action to take on the Soaring Eagles of Elmira College at 7 p.m.
