Utica, NY (April 18, 2011)- Sophomore midfielder Justin Edelstein (Hartsdale, NY) of the Utica College men’s lacrosse team was named the Colleges’ Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending April 17.
Edelstein contributed heavily, totaling five points, against Empire 8 opponents Ithaca College and Alfred University. He registered a career-high four points and added four groundballs in the Pioneers’12-9 loss against Alfred Saturday. He scored a goal and dished out three assists in the three goal loss. He also added one goal in the Pioneers loss to Ithaca Wednesday.
He currently ranks second on the team with seven assists and third on the team with seven goals and 14 points scored through 11 games. He has scored at least one point in 9 of 11 games and he also has 14 groundballs. In the Pioneers’ season opener against Cazenovia, he tallied the game- winner to lift Utica to a two goal victory.
The Pioneers return to the field on Wednesday, April 20 as they travel to Oneonta, NY to take on Hartwick College. The game is set to start at 4 p.m.
