UTICA, NY – Senior outfielder Kim Martin (Prospect, NY/Holland Patent) of the Utica College women’s softball team was named the College's Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending April 24.
Martin recorded two RBIs, five hits and five runs as the Pioneers went 1-2 last week. Over the course of three games she maintained a batting average of .500, a slugging percentage of .600 and an on base percent of .615.
She became the first player in program history to record 200 hits Tuesday after posting two hits to help UC defeat SUNY Oswego 16-15 in extra innings. She also recorded three hits and three runs when UC fell to Ithaca College Friday.
Martin currently leads the team with seven stolen bases and 31runs scored. So far this season she has 38 hits, 14 RBIs and one home run to go along with a .380 batting average and a .451 on base percentage. She has recorded at least one hit in 25 of 29 games this season, including a nine game hitting streak earlier this season.
The Pioneers (14-15) return to the field Wednesday as they host Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. The double header is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m.
