Utica University Athletics

Utica, NY (5-10-11) – Freshman #Breiten Balschmiter#,
of the Utica College men’s track and field team, was
awarded the college’s Male Athlete of the Week for his
performance over the weekend at the NYSCTC Outdoor
Championships in Troy, NY. 

Balschmiter was named Rookie of the Meet this past
weekend for his efforts as he qualified for ECAC’s in
both events he participated in.  He won the discus
throw with a toss of 46.69, while also placing third in
the shot put with a final throw of 15.44.  The freshman
standout helped UC to a sixth place finish and 64 points.

The Pioneers return to action Saturday as they travel to
Canton, NY for the Last Chance Qualifier hosted by St.
Lawrence University.  The meet is scheduled to begin at
10 a.m.
