Utica, NY - Junior Katrina Cornick of the Utica College women's track & field team has been named UC Female Athelte of the Week for performances in the first two meets of the season.

Cornick was a dual runner-up in the throws on Tuesday. She placed second in the shot put with a mark of 11.40 meters, and later debuted in the weight throw with an All-Atlantic Region Championships qualifying mark of 14.46 meters. Cornick raised the bar on Saturday -- placing second in the shot put at 10.97 meters, then posting her first career weight throw victory with a toss of 14.32 meters.

The team placed third at the season-opening invitationals, both of which were held at the Todd & Jen Hutton Sports and Recreation Center Dome. Utica will return to action this Friday and Saturday, as it travels to Cornell University to take part in the Upstate Challenge.
