Utica, N.Y. (9/27/10) – Sophomore linebacker Genaro Scampone of the Utica College football team was named the College’s Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending Sept. 26, 2010. Scampone made a game-high seven stops, one tackle for a loss and one pass break up as the UC football team won its fourth straight game for the first time in program-history Saturday against Wilkes.
Scampone made several key plays as the Pioneer defense held the Colonels to just 130 yards of total offense (41 yards passing) and three points in the second half.
He currently ranks third on the team with 33 tackles, 3.5 tackles for a loss, 1.5 sacks, one pass breakup and one fumble recovery this season.
Utica returns to action for the third of a four game home stand, this time against conference rival St. John Fisher College, under the lights at Charles A. Gaetano Stadium Saturday. The contest is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. and it is the first night football game for the Pioneers in program-history.
