UTICA, NY (10/24/2011)- Freshman Hannah Mackey of the Utica College field hockey team was named the Empire 8 Conference Player of the Week and the College's Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending Sunday, Oct. 22.
Mackey, a native of Locke, NY, netted a career-high three goals in UC's 5-1 win over conference opponent Ithaca College Saturday. She also picked up an assist in the Pioneers' 3-2 overtime loss at RPI Wednesday.
On the season, she leads the team with 28 points. She is averaging 4.62 shots per game and ranks second in the conference with 12 goals. UC is 6-1 in games where Mackey scores.
The Pioneers are currently 10-6 overall and 5-1 in the Empire 8 Conference. They have already clinched a spot in the E8 tournament and can win the regular season title with a win over St. John Fisher next Friday.
UC returns to action Wednesday as it hosts non-conference opponent Oneonta in the last home game of the regular season. Game time is scheduled for 4 p.m.
