Stephen Zurich was hired in the summer of 2015 as the assistant men’s basketball coach and is entering his first season. Zurich will assist Head Coach Chris Connolly with all facets of the program including day-to-day operations, scouting, recruiting, as well as game and practice preparation.
Zurich graduated from Rutgers University in 2015 with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and was also a member of the Rutgers men’s basketball team. He played in three different conferences during his time at Rutgers.
A 2011 graduate of Pascack Hills High School in Montvale, NJ, Zurich played his varsity basketball under Head Coach Kevin Kirkby. He averaged 11.3 points, 10.3 rebounds and 4.2 blocks per game as a senior to help the team to a 27-3 record and the North I Group 2 title. He was cited as a Bergen Record Athlete of the Week.
Son of George and Lorrie Zurich, he has a sister Heather who also played basketball at Rutgers from 2005-09 and is now an assistant women’s basketball coach at LIU Brooklyn. Another sister, Monica, played soccer at Wagner College and was a four-year starter.
Originally from Montvale, NJ, Stephen currently resides in Utica where he is pursuing his master’s degree at UC.
