Field Hockey Places Four On NFHCA All-region Team

Four Utica College Lady Pioneers have been selected for the 2004 National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division III North Atlantic All-Region team.

Senior goalkeeper Jenny Lounsbury (Saratoga Springs/Gansevoort) and sophomore forward Carla Behe (Little Falls/Little Falls) were both selected for the North Atlantic Region First Team. Lounsbury went 14-3 with 102 saves and six shutouts in 18 starts this season. She only allowed 18 goals all season, giving her a goals-against-average of 1.28. Behe led the team in assists with 18, while also scoring four goals, two of which were game winners.

Forwards Shannon Rohacek (Little Falls/Little Falls) and Danielle Fiore (Lakeland/Mohopac) were North Atlantic Region Second Team selections. Rohacek, a junior, started in all 18 games for the Pioneers this season and scored 36 points on eight assists and 14 goals, including four game winners. Fiore had a remarkable freshman season, starting 16 games and leading the team in points (41) and goals (18).

The Utica College field hockey team finished 13-2 overall this season and made it to the semi-final round of the ECAC Mid-Atlantic Field Hockey Championship before losing a 1-2 overtime thriller to Alvernia College.
