Shannon Rohacek (Little Falls/Little Falls) of the Utica College field hockey team was recently named to the 2005 Dartfish/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFCHA) Division III All-American Third Team.
Rohacek captained the first team in Utica College athletics history to the NCAA Division III Championships, as the Pioneers finished the season with a 12-5 overall record.
She joins fellow teammate Carla Behe (Little Falls/Little Falls) as the only two athletes in Utica field hockey history to be named All-American.
Rohacek led the Pioneers with a team-high 26 points, including 11 goals and four assists on the year. Rohacek, a senior forward, and E8 Rookie of the Year Katie Kutas (New York Mills/New York Mills) scored one goal each in the Pioneers' 5-2 loss to host Babson College in the first round of the NCAA Championships.
Rohacek was named Empire 8 Conference Player of the Week on three separate occasions this past season, and is also a three-time Empire 8 All-Conference First team selection.
