The Utica College men's ice hockey program collected every ECAC Men's West All-Conference individual honor as head coach
Gary Heenan was named the 2004-05 Coach of the Year, senior Jimmy Sokol (Webberville, MI) was honored as Player of the Year, and freshman Nick Lynch (Buffalo, NY) was recognized as Rookie of the Year.
Sokol, who finished the year tied for seventh place in the league with 14 points on nine goals and five assists, was also named to the All-ECAC West First Team. Sokol led the Pioneers for the season with a team-high 30 points on 13 goals, including three game-winners, and 17 assists. Sokol concludes his collegiate career as the program's all-time point leader (129 points), goal leader (58 goals), and assist leader (71 assists).
Freshman goaltender Adam Dekker (Muskegon, MI) landed on the All-ECAC West First Team as well as the All-Rookie Team. Dekker led the ECAC with a .800 win percentage (7-1-2), and ranked second in goals-against average (2.68) and save percentage (.912). The freshman standout finished the season 14-4-6 in goal for UC with a 2.46 goals-against average and 658 saves (.913 save percentage).
Lynch, in addition to being named Rookie of the Year, was also named to the All-Rookie Team. Lynch's sensational freshman campaign consisted of finishing tied for second on the Pioneer team for points with 26. Lynch, who also finished the year tied for seventh place in the league with 14 points (7 goals, 7 assists), netted 13 goals and distributed 13 assists for Utica on the year.
Heenan, who has posted a 52-40-11 record over four seasons as head coach at Utica, guided the Pioneers to their finest season to date, winning the ECAC West regular-season title, and earning the top-seed and hosting rights for the conference tournament. Utica finished the year with a program-best 16-5-6 overall record and a 9-1-2 record against ECAC competitors.
