The Utica College field hockey team placed three on the New York State Women's College Athletic Association teams this week.
Katie Kutas (New York Mills/New York Mills) made first team,
Carla Behe (Little Falls/Little Falls) made second team, and
Jennifer King (Chesapeake/Pasedena,MD) made third team.
Kutas, a sophomore, was named Empire 8 Rookie of the Year last season and Empire 8 Player of the Year this season. She tallied 40 points this year on a conference-best 18 goals, and four assists, one assist short of tying the college's single season scoring record.
Behe, a senior, has been named four times to the Empire 8 All Conference team and in 2004 and 2005 she was named to the first team. This past season, Behe totaled 19 points on five goals and nine assists and is second on UC's all-time scoring list with 85 career points on 23 goals and 39 assists. She holds the college record for assists in a season (18).
King, also a senior, is a three-time Empire 8 All Conference selection, and was named first team twice. Last season, she helped the Pioneer's to a 2.40 goals against average. She was also the Empire 8 Sportswoman of the Year in 2005. King played 68 games for the Pioneers.
The UC women's field hockey team closed out the season 10-7 overall and 4-2 in the Empire 8.
