UTICA, NY – The Utica College women's lacrosse team won their fifth consecutive game Tuesday 20-2 over visiting Wells College. 13 different Pioneers scored at least one goal in the victory.
Utica, who out shot Wells 42-7, scored 11 unanswered goals before the Express got on the board. The Pioneers took a 15-2 lead into halftime.
Utica racked up 72 ground balls, including nine by
Lauren Schreiner (Cortland, NY/Cortland), who also tallied a goal and an assist.
Andrea Olney (Westernville, NY) and
Liz Strodel (Syracuse, NY/Corcoran) each tallied six points on the day (three goals, three assists); while
Laura Keating (Whitesboro, NY/Horseheads) tallied two goals and one assist.
Jennifer Munisteri (Merrick, NY/St. Dominic),
Jackie Vicencio (Miller Place, NY/Miller Place), and
Christine Ahearn (Patchoque, NY/Patchogue-Medford) each tallied two points, while
Casey Pelletier (Middletown, CT/Mercy),
Kerri Weber (Medford, NY/Patchogue-Medford),
Julie Turner (Potsdam, NY),
Anna Balfoort (Schenectady, NY), and
Lisa Vitella (Holbrook, NY) each collected one goal.
Danielle Andrew (Westwood, MA/Westwood), who was recently named Empire 8 Conference Goalie of the Week for the second time this season, tallied two saves in her fifth win of the season.
Utica (5-2, 1-0 Empire 8) will return to action at 4 p.m. Friday against nationally-ranked Nazareth College in Empire 8 Conference action.
