UTICA, NY – The Utica College women's lacrosse team won their fourth consecutive game Friday 7-6 over visiting St. John Fisher College in the Empire 8 Conference opener for both squads.
Fisher (3-4, 0-1 Empire 8) jumped out to an early 2-0 lead after Katie Glavin (Syracuse, NY) found the back of the net just 1:37 into the first half and Jen Springett (Newark, NY) scored one of her game-high five goals just over ten minutes later.
The momentum shifted in the direction of the Pioneers as senior
Jennifer Munisteri () (Merrick, NY) tallied one of her two goals with just 12 seconds remaining in the first half. St. John Fisher led 2-1 at intermission.
Utica tallied six second half goals including a combined four by senior classmates
Lauren Schreiner () (Cortland, NY) and
Liz Strodel () (Syracuse, NY). Schreiner also tallied a team-high two assists on the evening.
Casey Pelletier () (Middletown, CT) tallied one goal and
Laura Keating () (Whitesboro, NY) posted one assist.
Senior goalie Dani Andrew (Westwood, MA) made 12 stops for the Pioneers, while freshman Danielle Murphy (Skaneateles, NY) posted three saves in net for the Cardinals.
Utica (4-2, 1-0 Empire 8) will return to action at 4 p.m. Tuesday against visiting Wells College.
